Description:

This is the story of the Camden Haven Inlet from its European naming in 1818 to 1975.

The booklet on the “The Camden Haven River”, was written by
Keven and Jan Mitchell, relates to the 200 years of development of industry and commerce on the river, from where it rises in the foothills of the Comboyne Plateau to the river entrance at North Haven and Dunbogan.

It gives evidence to the many difficulties experienced by the entrepreneurs and settlers, over a two hundred year period, as they went about creating the homes and villages throughout the entire length of the Camden Haven Valley.

A great deal more detail is provided on the endeavours to create the Training Walls and the straightening and deepening of the river bar crossing to assist in easier access in and out of the harbour. The timber industry features throughout the publication.
